Volunteering

Mixing passion with philanthropy is my way of giving back to society. Edith Wharton, the twentieth century American novelist, wrote “There are two ways of spreading light – to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it”.  I am grateful that through photography, I have tried to be the mirror for a few life-changing organizations:

CharityWhat they do?
sif_logoBrings people together to share ideas, skills and resources to effect real change in areas such as healthcare, education, the environment, arts and culture, as well as livelihood and business. I was involved with their Water for Life program.
lcss-logoLCSS: Empowers children and families through care and mentoring. Their work with children of incarcerated persons is outstanding.
habitat_logoPartners with families with housing needs to build houses for them.
OpSmile_logoOperation Smile provides free surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities for children around the globe. Volunteers are paid in six figures - SMILES. I was fortunate to accompany a group of volunteers to Neijiang, China.
acres-logoACRES: Promotes animal welfare. Best known for their campaign to free wild dolphins held captive by Resorts World Sentosa
boys-townBoys Town: Provides guidance, shelter, education, vocational training and practical living skills to youths. My support for them included contributing photographs to their year calendar, teaching boys about photography and playing friendly soccer games with them.
spca-logoSPCA, Singapore: The objectives of the Society are to prevent cruelty to animals and birds and to promote kindness to animals and birds. They save about 400 pets and stray animals every month.
smsa_logoSt.Michael's Soccer Academy is not a charity. However, funds raised from parents are donated to SJI Junior school towards the educational needs of less privileged students. The academy was started by the old boys of St.Michael's School (now SJI Jr) and currently run by parent volunteers

(Note that my involvement with some of the organizations above are through my employer’s CSR program). In the gallery below, you can check out some of the photographs I have taken on assignments with these organizations.

I am happy to contribute my time & effort, totally free of cost, for your charity organization or if you have a good cause. If you are looking for a photographer-volunteer, contact me using the Reply / Comments form below providing details like nature of event, dates etc.
